In February of 2011 I was hired by Glaxo Smith
Kline’s generic drug division to collate
notes from a seminar they were having about the impact of Obamacare on Generic
Drug Maker profits. They supplied a number of documents to me for research
purposes and one of them I have posted online. Anyways, the background material
described how there has been an effort to pass some kind of universal health
care for over a hundred years. That’s right. Over a hundred years. Guess who
has been the primary blockers of such coverage for the last sixty years? You
got it. The pharmaceutical industry. Why? Fear of losing massive profits in the
order of hundreds of billions of dollars. That’s right – hundreds of billions
of dollars every year.
How did Obamacare get around this? First off he did
not give into intimidation by the drug companies willing to spend billions of
dollars to defeat him. When they say this they decided the best bet was to
negotiate. They were being forced to, among other things, cover children with
preexisting conditions, mail refund checks if they spend less than 50% of
premiums on health care and lower the cost of their drugs in order to cover an
additional 45 million people who will be covered in the system. Bottom line?
They will make about the same amount of profits however they will be giving an
additional 45 million people health care. The saddest thing about working with
Glaxo Smith Kline was no, not once, mentioned ethics in anyway when talking
about health care. Profits, profits, and more profits is all they ever talked
about and I had notes from over a dozen people meeting for a week. Sad and
scary.
That’s reason # 1 why I support Obama.

Well you have certainly made your reason for supporting Obama very plain. I have shared a link to this post at a lens which compiles information on healthcare, health insurance and healthcare reform. FYI.

The #1 reason I support Obama is that he had the balls to sign the Ledbetter law requiring equal pay for women!
